A Community Space
One thing that we value at Take Root Cafe is community. We want our cafe to be supported by the community and for the community, which is why we think it's important to offer our space to individuals and groups in our community when we're not using it. However, we do have a few requirements that you must agree to and abide by when using our space for your group, organization, or meeting.
Take Root Cafe prohibits discrimination against and harassment of anyone in our cafe because of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran status or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal or state law. This applies to any and all groups and organizations using our space. If we find out that your meeting specifically excludes or discriminates against a particular group listed above, you will no longer be able to use Take Root Cafe as a meeting space.
Our Mission and Vision
Take Root Cafe's mission is to alleviate hunger and promote health by offering nourishing, high quality, local foods on a pay-what-you-can basis. Our vision is to create a more thriving, compassionate, and economically strong community. Thank you for supporting your community cafe!
Take Root Cafe's main floor and entire space is no longer available for private rentals; however, groups/organizations/meetings are still welcome to use the downstairs cafe space during regular business hours. There is a possible exception for community/public events.
Our 3rd Floor Conference Room and Theater will still be available for community use and private rentals. Please see information below pertaining to “private rentals” or “community/public use”. We do limit the number of total larger events to 5 per month.
FOR PRIVATE RENTALS
Rental for usage is based on an hourly suggested rate (including set-up and clean-up) up to 5 hours. 6 hours or longer is considered a day rental.
To keep with our mission, all rates are suggested donation amounts. Please pay-what-you-can!

3rd Floor, Conference Room $30/hr $240/day 30 people
3rd Floor, Theater $50/hr $400/day 98 people (theater seating), 40 people (tables and chairs)
Entire 3rd Floor (includes lobby/bar area) $100/hr $800/day *See above
We require a Security Deposit of $100 that is refundable if there are no damages or major cleaning. For events with alcohol being served or sold, we require a $200 deposit. Your event is considered scheduled when we receive your deposit. Cancellation of your event can result in loss of full deposit.
FOR NON-PROFITS, COMMUNITY GROUPS, and PUBLIC MEETINGS
We will offer our space FREE OF CHARGE (but donations are always accepted),
when not in use, to non-profits, community groups, or public meetings that are holding an event that:
-benefits the community,
-is FREE or low cost,
-and is open to the entire public.
Under this arrangement, any and all meetings, groups, and organizations that chose to use Take Root Cafe's space for free must agree that there meetings are free and open to the public. They will be listed on our community calendar on our website. We expect the space is left clean and in order. If it is not, your group may lose the ability to use Take Root's space.
